She fought it first. Of course she did.

Then she tried to understand it. Walked around it. Looked for the edges of the thing. Came back to find it still there, still watching, still doing exactly what she did the moment she did it.

So she stopped fighting. Sat down. Pressed one paw against the glass.

And rested her forehead against the only one who had ever moved exactly like her.

We spend so much time startled by our own reflection. Circling it, challenging it, looking for the trick. And sometimes, if we get quiet enough, humble enough, tired enough of the fight, we just lean in.

And find someone that finally, perfectly, understands.
